Retail Sales Careers
Staff in these areas are customer-facing and need to have or be able to acquire excellent customer service and selling skills. Good spoken and written English are important. They will also need to be able to operate a till and have basic computer skills.
Product knowledge in any of the following areas would be welcomed; however we do provide full training.
Architectural Ironmongery
We stock a large selection of architectural ironmongery for home and commercial use; everything from nails and fixings to exclusive door furniture, shelves, wall brackets etc.
Decorating
We sell paint for both inside and out and if our customer can't find the colour they want, we can use the paint mixing machine to match their sample. We stock everything for sanding, filling and priming and sell wallpaper from this department which links to our Curtains & Soft Furnishings area (see below). We also stock fence paint, decking treatments, masonry paint and so on.
We have recently started selling be-spoke and contemporary real-wood flooring from the Real Wood and Concept and Concept 11 ranges. Fabulous choices in styles and colours, all designed for living.
Fireplaces and stoves
We have varying styles of fireplaces and stoves, including Farmington and Charnwood. We visit and advise and fit. We also provide a fireplace maintenance service for Farmingtons to help restore the fireplaces to their former glory. We also have a wide range of flues, fire baskets, companion sets, fenders and other fireplace accessories.
Showrooms
In our ground-floor Showrooms we sell lighting and home electrical appliances.
Uplighters, downlighters, spotlights, walk-over lights, low voltage, indoor and outdoor lights and more, along with all the necessary accessories such as bulbs, transformers, cabling etc sit alongside dishwashers, fridges, freezers, washing machines, freestanding and integrated cookers. We also stock many smaller electrical goods like toasters, heaters, radios and electrical accessories such as light bulbs, switches, sockets and extension cables. Ventilation accessories, including ducting, extractor fans and hose clips are also stocked in this area.
Tools
Our tool department stocks renowned, reliable brand names such as Bosch, Hitachi, Metabo, DeWalt, Elektra Beckum and Record.To compliment this extensive range of power tools, we also stock ranges of hand tools to suit both the professional tradesman and home improvement DIY enthusiast. We also supply work clothing, such as overalls and boots and provide a tool repair service. We have a large trade customer base in this area along with retail customers.
Staff in the following areas are also customer-facing but need higher levels of selling skills (customer service is still paramount) and excellent communication skills. They will also need more computer skills as they will be placing orders and researching on the WEB.
Flooring and Tiling
Natural stone such as limestone, travertine, slate and marble, and mosaic, glass and ceramic tiles are all available from our Bathroom Studio where we have a vast range of tiles for floors and walls, for kitchens, bathrooms and halls. Wooden flooring is sold through our Decorating department.
Furniture
Classic, contemporary and retro free-standing furniture from across the world for bedrooms, lounges, dining rooms and kitchens; choose from a range which includes elegant pieces from Italy, the traditional Chateau range and the modern world of Coach House.
Spas
We sell Master Spas and Swim Spas - with working models on show - along with all the accessories to keep the waters and tub clean and sparkling.
