1 Rescue

The Sedna carpet creation process begins with rescuing waste materials that would otherwise harm the environment, such as abandoned fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet and industrial plastic. Thanks to Aquafil, the company behind the Econyl yarn, these materials are collected from oceans and landfills from various locations worldwide before they are carefully sorted and thoroughly cleaned to extract as much nylon as possible.

2 Regenerate

Once the waste materials are collected, a revolutionary process of regeneration and purification is initiated. The state-of-the-art technology recycles the nylon waste back to its original purity, resulting in Econyl regenerated nylon. This regenerated nylon is indistinguishable from fossil-based nylon and meets the same high-quality standards.

3 Remake & Reimagine

The Econyl nylon is skillfully processed into the yarns and polymers that go into making Sedna carpets. What makes Econyl truly remarkable is its ability to be recycled indefinitely without compromising its quality. Sedna’s ultimate objective is to ensure that when customers no longer need their sedna carpet, they can be reintroduced into the Regeneration System, starting the cycle anew.

Backing Composition

As a carpet backng, Sedna uses ECO FusionBac, a polyester made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. All too often these bottles are carelessly thrown away and end up in the plastic soup in our rivers: a real threat to the ecosystem. By putting plastic bottles in the correct recycling cycle, they are given a new use as a valuable raw material for numerous products, such as the high-performance ECO FusionBac. This strong & stable carpet backing makes the carpet easy to install, improves the heat and noise insulation and makes it last longer.
